Today's headline on MSNBC's Weather front page reads:
Wild Midwest storm heading to Northeast
Twisters hit Chicago; hundreds of thousands lose power, 2 deaths reported
The first paragraph of the story reads:
A storm front that ripped roofs from buildings, cut power to more than a million people, and forced others to seek shelter at a Major League Baseball game as well as O'Hare Airport was heading east on Tuesday.
Obviously neither today, nor yesterday, were good days to fly into our out of the northeast or midwest. I flew to San Diego from New York (via Chicago) yesterday, and my fellow blogger, Jacquie, is (hopefully) flying from the Big Apple to San Diego today.
She'll have to tell you her own tale, mine went something like this:
6:46 wake up bleary eyed and hung over. (My mom threw a party and I, for some inane reason, thought it would be a good idea to drink lots of Captain Morgan and Cokes the night before flying across country with two kids in tow.)
6:48 take shower (feel a tiny bit better)
7:03 get dressed, finish packing, get girls up, get them fed, get them dressed, etc.
8:02 load into shuttle to Syracuse airport, make small talk with driver, first argument erupts from back seat
9:06 arrive Syracuse airport, check bag, find out plane is delayed.
9:11 spot Natale's International Airport Barber Shop, ask girls if they're up for new dos. Both girls get spiffy bobs from Nicole.
9:45 find out plane is further delayed
10:00 find out plane is further delayed
10:30 find out plane is further delayed
11:00 find out plane is further delayed
12:00 decide to take matters into our own hands.
We transport our bags to the plane:
Then fly the damn thing home:
Aw Beth! That is adorable! Congrats on getting your 3 cute little butts home. glad your girls are so aerodynamically capable...

ReplyDeleteWow, you girls are powerful! Sorry you had such a miserable travel day, I wont gloat about how we spent all morning at the pool and then ended up getting the coveted standby tickets for an earlier flight home. Glad everyone is home safe and sound!
