This week, though, seeing all those fabulous faces is a little melancholy because I will see none of my immediate family peeps on Thanksgiving.
I don't love holidays as much as I used to, and I will be with Mistah's family peeps on the Big Day, and we're lucky enought to be a part of an incredible New London family of love, but still. I will miss the peeps of my blood on Thanksgiving. My original peeps. Like these two. My oldest niece and youngest niece. And their favorite Uncle Schleckah.
And these guys? My Asheville peeps? Oh, I'll miss them so. (Happy Birthday, Erin!)
My youngest Chicago nephew? Dearly.
Hmm, yeah, maybe I won't miss these guys that much. Except for the yogi in the middle. But I'll see him anyway.
.
Kidding! Doug and the two Marks and the two Bills? How will I live without them on Thursday?
.
You'd think I'd at least see the locals that day, but no.
Oh, I'll miss this assbag . . .
. . . and I'll miss the cutest coffee thieves in the world.
I'll miss my brother-in-law Doug, especially since I thought I'd be celebrating with him on Thursday. And Dad, who *is* celebrating with him. And Jacquie, of course. But Erica? And her pal? Hmmm. I don't know. Actually, I don't think I will miss them. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
My niece Corey-girl? Oh yes.
These hoodlums? Naturally.
Aunt Ann? Will I ever.
I'll miss my family on Thanksgiving, too. At least Mark & I will see Ellie & Bill in New London on Saturday! Yippee! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo many peeps to miss!
ReplyDeleteMy advice is to start drinking early.
Beth
Well miss our peeps too, will be lovely with Ann and Jane and her family, but I'll miss my 4 other daughters so so much. Jane's in-laws will have all their family here - I'm so jealous. So many Holts, so few Coreys, it's a good thing we like them so much. I love the blog Ellie -love, mom
ReplyDeleteSigh. I keep trying to be okay with my non-traditional plans this Thanksgiving, but I really do wish I could just sit at a big table with some of my peeps and eat and talk and laugh. And hug dad. And also hug YOU, Ellie, of course! I couldn't even scrape together any sistahs this year, it's just our sad little foursome.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be crying all the way to the swim-up bar. I hope the bartender likes hugs.
Love seeing all that tan skin - you've been pulling out the Pocmont photos lately, huh? such a treat.
xo

I love this picture story! It is such a happy recognition of the ones that you love dearly and demonstrates the good fortune of closeness that you all (The Corey's) have:D We will be at Kevin & Cheri's with Uncle Brian, Aunt Mary, Aunt Ginny, Pam's family and this year my sister too - a group of 29 people this year! Instead of choosing families this year, we're dragging my sister along for the wild ride!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This made me sniffle. I miss my peeps, too.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jacquie. What kind of swim-up bartender could possibly NOT like hugs?
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear from you Erin F! (And you too Mom and MB and Scarlet Virago)
And, Beth? One word: Duh. ;)
xxEllie
I'll miss my peeps, too. It'll just be my favorite wife and me tomorrow. I do miss the rest of my peeps immensely; that's the down side of people scattering to the wind. But, of course, I want to scatter to the wind. Happy Thanksgiving, one and all!
