11.11.11

Here I sit waiting to explode, or implode, or burst into flames (perhaps either of the first two words already suggests this last phrase?). I am waiting for hailstorms, snakes with forked tongues, scorched earth and blackened landscapes.

Or, if not these scenes of death and destruction, then perhaps the glorious age of Aquarius. Where are the glowing golden Buddhas, blinding rainbows, the resonating sound of OM? Where is my gilded guru waiting to lead me into bliss in this life?

We've all have heard theories of both scenarios, right? You know, the 11.11.11 will bring with it a most powerful shift in human awareness mumbo jumbo? "It is a rare opportunity to release lifetimes of karmic scripting and ancestral entrapment. Entrapment in the sense of the conscious and unconscious habit patterns which have us wondering why we can’t seem to actualize the life we really want to have, and know is possible. 11-11-11 is the cosmic birth date of humanities prayer for liberation from the rote, mundane, and monotonous."

Hey, I can get jive with this. Really, I can.

But, unfortunately, today is also the day that doomsday theorists have prophesied the apocalypse will arrive. Acid rain will cover this dying orb, and the lot of us sinners will suffer the peeling skin and retina burns that accompany it. Or, we'll just sizzle in hell for all eternity, or some other more well known apocalyptic end of it all.

I don't like this scenario as much.

But honestly -- especially as the minutes tic on, and I'm still going about my daily tasks much the same as I did yesterday -- I'm more of the mind that this is just another day, albeit it with a really cool date. One that won't be repeated for 100 years, long after I am dead and gone (hopefully not by implosion). Plus, of course, it's Veteran's day, as it is every year, so thanks to all you veterans, and active duty military as well.

I did learn this morning during a quick web investigation that today has also been dubbed Nigel Tufnel Day. Yes, Nigel Tufnel .You know, the fictional rocker from the semi fictional band Spinal Tap? 11.11.11 is also his day, so crank up your music folks, get your jam on.

Dance and sing, contemplate life's good and bad, the daily mundane, the seasonal magnificence, those moments of luminosity. To you and yours I wish for today nothing but extreme elevenness...

  2. Extreme elevenness to you too!

And there's no imploding or bursting into flame on the East Coast yet either, but I will tell you this: writing the date is *really* fun today.

I can't say I can blame the seismic shift here in Happy Valley on today's date..it's 6 days too late.

Could 11.11.11 be the start of something positive?? let's hope so. I'm ready!
