Yellow Flowers

Mistah and I have found ourselves looking at lots of recent photos lately. . . .

. . . and I keep returning to the Yellow Flowers . . .

. . . the Yellow Flowers Mistah shot in our neighbor's yard in September.

Something about those Yellow Flowers just speaks to me . . .

Maybe it's because they're in bloom, and nothing is anymore . . .

. . . maybe it's because the background is so green and lush and verdant, and nothing is anymore . . .

. . . maybe it's because they're yellow, and nothing is yellow anymore.

Maybe it's because we walked outside, barefoot, to check them out . . .

. . . and if we did that now our poor little tootsies-toes would freeze off.

Or maybe it's because even when one lives in the moment, and tries to be fully aware of the days passing by, and appreciates -- okay, tries to appreciate -- each season, it still seems to just zip by in a flash, and there is no more yellow anywhere.

The Yellow Flowers have been replaced with this:

Beautiful? Yes.  Yellow? No.

See you next year, Yellow Flowers.

  1. I feel you, E! Winter is hard, even here in sunny San Diego, where I could very probably still find some yellow.

For me, it's the light to dark ratio that really gets to me. Give me the light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But we have that winter solstice turning point coming right up. Once we pass that we're golden. Or, er, perhaps not "golden" as in "yellow," but on our way nonetheless, right?

    Hold on!
