The Mayor (of the Book Barn, but still) . . .
. . . Cookbook Ken (left), and on the right, The Bishop. Bishop is an ordained Bishop in the Order of St. Mary the Virgin, he speaks 5 or 6 languages, and he manages a collection of international devotional art that crosses religious boundaries, with a goal of fostering understanding and acceptance of other world views through art, but in my book, he's the Bishop of Champagne.
Bill and I went for lunch -- and Champagne -- at The Bishop's home at the Ministry in St. Augustine, Florida a few years ago, and we've been quoting him ever since:
.
"In my house, sin is defined as an empty glass."
Mistah Schleckah was a lovely host . . .
. . . and kept us all entertained with his sometimes-silly, sometimes-erudite stories.
I'm a lover of champagne too, but at least I keep my front yard free of the damages... LOL

Very important people doing very important things!
ReplyDeleteChampagne gives me a headache, but I still like it a lot ;)
Doing a bit of quick math here, that looks like 6 bottles of champers divided by 5 attendees... nice way to while away a sunny afternoon!! As everyone knows, you do know how to party!!
ReplyDeleteWell, Mister Mayor only had one glass, so it's more like 6 bottles divided by four people... Sigh.

I was about to say the same thing, Marty!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great afternoon, El - I'm cracking up at Schlekah's bizarre body position during those clinky shots =)
Thanks for taking up the slack today - I just talked to Beth, she's in an internet wasteland but gathering great blog fodder.

I'm having Bishop envy. Sounds like my kind o' people!
ReplyDeleteThat Bishop looks like a rockin' cool dude. I was a little disappointed when he took the shades off..kind of detracted from the whole beatnik look, but still...
ReplyDeleteI know! I was shocked! That's the first time I ever saw his face, behind that hat and beard and shades.

I have decided to join the church. Please, tell the Bishop.
ReplyDeleteI want snacks, I want champagne! And I want to be one of the four that remains. I may even have to get my own reminders from Mistah to share....

Oh, and Ellie, what a great last minute post, I should ask you to fill in more often.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
