Peak

Our Florida State Park Ranger friend Renee was scheduled to visit us last weekend. Yippee!

The timing was perfect: we were headed up to Litchfield County for our friend Bruce's annual Octoberfest Party, and Renee -- a Florida girl, born and bred, through and through -- would get to see some of that famous, spectacular, New England foliage.

Connecticut is wee. It's small. It's the third wee-est state. And in a state that small, it still takes 2 hours to get from our house to Bruce's. If there's no traffic.

The foliage on our road trip? Spectacular, as promised.

And Renee? Was she impressed with it all? Well, we do not know, because Renee wasn't with us. She bailed.

Oh, sure, she fell off a swamp buggy and had to have like 17,000 staples put in her arm, but sheesh! We're talking foliage here, girl!

Sigh. Poor Renee.

Renee? This one's for you.

I could wax poetic about the fabulousness of this years colors but is that strictly necessary? No, it is not. Let's let the fabulous colors speak for themselves.

"Okay, guys, now all stand together for a group shot...."
This year's edition of Tree Porn brought to you by our very own Mistah, keen of eye and big of heart.

  1. I would have been willing to come view the live show if I had been invited. Harrumphh! But I have to say Mistah's tree porn is quite nice...almost like being there, but not quite!

  2. That is the one and only thing that Quito loses at. Perpetual spring is almost flawless, but there's no changing of the leaves.

This year really has put on a spectacular leaf show. Much improved over last year, which already had it's first snow storm by now and had damaged the poor leaves.

I should take more pictures instead of just taking it all in with my eyes and thinking that I'll remember when the leaves have all been raked from the ground.

  5. Oh lawd have mercy! I'm so sorry. I feel, er, loved and akward, and motivated to buy a plane ticket asap...simultaneously.

If it's any consolation, I've managed to bail on countless other events like meetings, projects, concerts and even weddings in the wake of my little accident. Words can't describe how excited I was to FINALLY go see my dear friends Ed and Millie!

So, I almost spit out my night cap as I scrolled throughwhat seemed like an endless stream of tree porn. I laughed for like five minutes (however long it took me to get to the bottom of your post). Shout out to Mistah!

Hopefully Ellie will let me come visit in November. I'm from Florida, snow is totally awesome!

I love and miss you guys.

  6. Renee, awkwardly loved is a terrible state in which to shop for airline tickets.

And I'm going to CT in November, dear God, will there be snow?!

Ellie, I forgot to sign my insightful, profound comment above. That was me at 2:39.

    xoxo

  8. Aw Renee, we just feel so badly for you. Stop leaping off swamp buggies, lady!

And November is the dark month, but it doesn't typically snow, Jacquie. I don't think.
