There’s a little guy named Pedro who comes in to the Tavern and drinks Coors Light drafts. He’s sort of everybody’s mascot: when he arrives, everyone greets him enthusiastically:
“Pedro!” “How you doing, Pedro?” “Hey, Pedro’s here!” Pedro doesn’t really speak English. Actually, he doesn’t seem to really speak Spanish either. But that doesn’t matter: there’s lots of gesticulating and facial expressions and universal sign language with Pedro. Except for one time, he expressed his thoughts in such a full and perfect way, it was like the Gutenberg Bible coming out of his mouth
(you know, the first book ever published is still considered the most perfect book ever published). That day, Pedro came into the Tavern when the bar was full and the music was playing and he said it was
good. He said,
“It’s the music and the people.”
Pedro’s onto something here, clearly. After all, besides the music and the people, what else is there? Take, for instance, this past Saturday, the Fourth of July, at the
Hygienic Art Park. The
“We Rock!” Show. It was all
about the music and the people, as New London often is:
.The Music . . .
. . . and the People.
The Music . . .
. . . and the People.
The Music, naturally . . .
. . . and the peeps.
And
some peeps . . .
. . . are by nature more evident than others.
The Music . . .
. . . and the People, even if they aren’t necessarily real people.
.
The Music. Such fun music, all day long . . .
.
. . . and the People. In some cases, adorable people.
.
I mean really.
.That. Is one adorable person.
Of
course it’s
good because it’s the
music and the
people. It’s such an obvious tenet of a good life. But sometimes, you need someone to actually
say it, to crystallize what you
feel and
know, but have not specifically
articulated.
Aw, Pedro.

Pedro is also pretty adorable. I had to read the post several times before I could figure out if your captions were intended for the photo above or the photo below... the cowboy boot totally threw me off.
Looks like a great day

The little guy has big wisdom!

No truer words....
Love this post. Love New London's music. Love New London's people. (And my guess is that the cowboy boot is "The Music" because it's Mr. Brockett's foot.)
You are RIGHT, Lisa. I was just waiting for someone to clear up Jacquie's confusion; I was far too lazy-I-mean-busy to do so myself.
