friend.2

Driving into work yesterday, I was so pleased to see my best friend from 2008, whom I've never met.  Remember?

Here's the photo I stalked her to get. It was saved as "friend.1" in the blog's photo storage.

And here she was, live and in person, 9 years later:

There's no doubt that it's her, right? But what you can't see, because I crossed out the whole first version of this post where I zoomed in on the license plate for comparison because even *I* am not that creepy, is that the license plates are different! Maybe she got a new registration for some reason, and sure it makes sense that one would acquire a new helmet after all those years, but if you look closely, you'll notice that the seat is a different color!  You guys, it's not her! I HAVE ANOTHER NEW BEST FRIEND.

I'm so popular.

Hanging out

We got a new yoga wall installed at the studio. It's fun! But not many of us really know how to use it, so we had a two day training.

The training was fun, and informative, and there was a lot of hang time......

We do go out. We do.

It may seem like all we do is stand on the deck with drinks in our hands and look out upon our Field . . .

. . . I mean, I know there's a lot of evidence to support that notion . . .

. . . but I am here to tell you . . .

Ooooh, look! Rainy day version . . .

. . . anyway, I am here to tell you . . .

. . . that is utterly untrue.

I mean, sometimes we go inside to tweak a photo . . .

. . . and sometimes we take photos of eachother on the deck . . .

And sometimes, sometimes . . .

. . . we leave the premises . . .

. . . yes, we go out into the World . . .

. . . and hang with our gorgeous, alluring, talented, compelling, espectacular peeps.

. . . and look what's waiting for us when we get home . . .

Maui nights

We thought the first night's sunset was the most beautiful thing we'd ever seen

Then it rained on the second night, and the sunset looked a little like the inside of a pirate bar

Then it rained on the 3rd day, but the sun came out just in time to set for us

And to turn the sea purple

The fourth night had a lot of distractions who were wearing little more than grass fronds

But then we were distracted away from the distraction by more of this

and this

Don't get me wrong, it's not all about the nights. The days are pretty good too

But man, those Maui nights are something else

A Week For The Ages

It all started with our surprise trip to Boston . . .

. . . to visit this nugget.

Look at this kid. It had been nine years since we've laid eyeballs on eachother and our visit was just as spectacular as you would think and hope.

Plus? Calamari.

And seafood looie. Coolie? Something.

And sea bass forgodsake.

The lovely Dana joyfully joined us . . .

. . . and man what a place.

It was a great day.

Field Interlude.

The beach!

We went to Weekapaug on Friday because it was a beautiful day, and because we could.

The Atlantic Ocean, baby.

I was trying to drink beer and eat grinders and eat potato chips and Mistah was snapping away at will so I could never smile because, well, who wants to see a smile full of grinder? Nobody, that's who.
You're welcome.

It was a great day.

Field Interlude.

Oh wait! Ledgie Interlude.

And then? To cap it all off? Mom's book club came to me -- all the way to the Whaling City -- for a meeting of the minds. Look at these women!

The Cronin women. In Da House.

It was a great day.

Trees Interlude.

It was a great week, one I dare say, for the ages.

Finding Ellie

Look who I found in Boston!

Or wait. Did she find me?

Plus She Can Fly

This kid came to visit us yesterday . . .

. . . and by "visit" I mean "did all our yard work."

. . .  and by "did all our yard work" I mean "planted all the plants we stole from her mom and dad."

. . .  and by "all the plants we stole from her mom and dad" I mean it was sanctioned thievery!

. . . Kat gave them to us!

. . . we went home in not-the-Westy-and-why-didn't-we-drive-the-Westy? full of all of the everything.

Our Field is now full of all the everything.

You remember this kid, right?

Yeah, her.

I know. She still makes that face.

I texted Jacquie for the inside poop on the confusing monkey-like creature on G's gloves, because I know Jacquie's girl had the same confusing monkey-like creature on her long-ago jammies:

Who's this again? The gloves, not the kid. I know the kid.
Skippy John Jones!
Aka?
Paul Frank.
How desperately boring.
Right??

She'll always be Skippy John Jones to me.

She's a warrior, this one.

Plus she's adventuresome . . .

. . . plus she's intrepid . . .

 . . . plus she can fly.
