The Best Seat in Provincetown

We found the only dive bar in Provincetown.

Of course we did; that's no surprise. The surprise is that there aren't more dive bars in a town that I remember having some dive-bar-'tude, way back when, last time we were here.

But that's not important right now. What's important is Provincetown does still have a self-respecting dive bar:

NO, not the Lobster Pot. No, its neighbor, there on the left:

That's right, the Old Colony Tap Room.

The place where when you walk in, you feel like you're home.

It's important, at moments like these, to get the best seat in the house . . .

. . . but we had even more than that going for us. We talked to a couple of drunks locals at the bar, and they said not only did we have the best seat in the bar, we had the best seat in Provincetown.

And they were right.

It was the absolutely best people-watching spot in all the land.

Aw, there's my 20-years-of-matrimonial-bliss-friend.

What we really wanted to do was take photos of all the peeps walking by outside the plate-glass windows . . .

. . . but one really can't do that. One can't take photos of everybody walking by, when one's in a fishbowl diorama . . .

. . . so one comforts oneself by taking photos of one's Guinness . . .

Guinnesses . . .

You heard it here first, peeps.

When in Provincetown . . .

. . . get thee to the Old Colony.

Oh Ellie, how lovely. All of it. I mean, the best seat in the town, your 20-years-of-matrimonial-bliss-friend, your Guinni? Your visit to the Old Colony looks absolutely perfect!

And both you peeps are looking so splendid and autumnal and hydrated!

Miss you!!
