Wake Up The Earth

We went to the 31st annual Wake Up The Earth festival in Jamaica Plain on Saturday.

J.P. is, apparently, where all the cool people live in Boston.

And it was a great fest. Lots of political causes and community groups and anti-war and neighborly love.

It was a beautiful afternoon . . .
.
. . . and the people-watching was fantastic.

. . . as was the food. Indian, Thai, Nepalese, and by the looks of this, barbecue.

Mistah went off, camera in hand, to see the sights . . .

. . . and there were lots of sights to see. Everybody who lives in J.P., apparently, is beautiful.

There were bands all days. These guys were great.

(Well, we were in Boston.)

Wait, is it my imagination?
..Is it me?

Or did Bill focus mostly on pretty girls?

One after another . . .

. . . all day long.

Oh, there, that's better.

.It was great to see our friends Matt and Jamie, and they were lovely and gracious J.P. hosts.
.

We basked, we yakked, we ate, we listened to music,

We woke up the Earth.

Looks like a great way to spend a day. I love street fairs and festivals, it would be cool to visit other cities and check out their music, food, and causes. Around here it's pretty much the same set up, different block, rotating around the town.

You are such a tiny thing these days, Ellie. You really look great. The most beautiful of the beautiful girls Mistah snapped in JP. Hands down.

Well, I'm glad *you* said it first, because it sure looked like he had a particular style of subject on that day. You do look glorious, so no worries :-)

So many cool dreads at that festival. I've been thwarted in my search for someone to dread my hair. I bet I could've found someone there to do it!

Some of these shots faces are amazing - the mother and baby, the two smiling South Americans, the couple in the park, the old man... I hope you're considering some of these for a photo contest or something? They're too good just for the blog.

I'm a little concerned with the girl with the diagonal butt crack. Is that a Boston thing?

Looks like a great fair!
Makes me miss the East Coast.
