friday hodgepodge

This fine Friday finds me on the East coast! It's so beautiful and crisp and clear, I can almost grasp the appeal of living in these parts. I don't know where the Connecticutians...  Connecticuters...  Connecticytes... people here fall on Beth's good-looking-o-meter, but the ones I'm eyeballing this weekend are aces.

There's no time to wax poetic, though, we've got trains to board, shows to see, places to be, laughter to share and tears to shed! This can mean just one thing for MeYouEllie: Friday Hodgepodge (aka lazy bullshit post).

Item 1:   I love having facebook on my phone:

Jacquie Corey Kennedy  o'hare is kinda awesome. bars every 10-15 steps. I can't shut up to the strangers about how easy it is to travel without the kids.

Hi! I'm Jacquie! I don't have my kids! Hi! Wanna have a drink?!

  ‎@Ellie - hahahahaha! That's hysterical!

  No, it's actually reality.

wanna hear my life story? wait! why are you leaving? slow down, I'm wearing grown up shoes!

C'mon! I'll buy you a drink! Why are you running?!

cracking up. here at the car, all by my lonesome. scared 'em all away.

Well, at least you don't have to buy anyone that drink. Not that they were accepting. . . . And I sincerely hope you are at the *bar* and not the *car* since you're not at your destination yet..........

bar. here at the Bar. the one with all the booze.

  I would expect *no* less.

Item 2: I'm sorry, but I have to complain about the carry on baggage racket.

I checked in online 3 minutes after the 24 hour window opened. I was relegated to lowly boarding group 4 of 4. My seats were assigned, but being in group 4 of 4 inevitably leads to the relentless and stressful contemplation of whether or not there will be space in the overhead bin for my bag. I pack very light (and badly, but that's a story for another day), and my bag is well within the size guidelines. Yet as soon as I arrive at the gate, it is announced  that space in the bins is going to be tight and we should all consider checking our bags. If I was going to check a damn bag, I would have brought more clothes! And better toiletries! I packed carry on and I'm sticking to it. It all turned out fine, but I was highly annoyed that I had to waste my precious stress on worrying about my bag when it would obviously have been better spent fretting about the pilot and the plane and the whole falling from the sky drama.

Item 3: I'm here at my mom's. It's just my mom's now. Yet Dad is everywhere.

I really miss him.

Ach, Jacquie. Love that photo. Love how your girl just draped herself upon her Jiddoo.

Ach.

LOL so much at:

And lastly, *loved* our exchange while you were in Chicago at the kinda awesome O'Hare. Laugh out loud funny, I tell you what.

I love you. See you tonight! Yippee!

nice, Jacquie, had to end all the smiles and good humor with the tear-jerker picture.
that was the fastest emotional roller coaster I've been on in awhile.

I debated adding to your funny airport banter and decided to just "like" some of the comments...bummer that it meant I didn't make the blog post.

Have a great time...which is hard NOT to do on a glorious Fall weekend in NYC/CT. They really are wooing you with the unseasonably warm weather :)

She is just the cutest thing!! What an awesome photo of both of them. Ach.

Are you sure they don't hail from Charleston?

Here's to flying solo, wearing grown-up shoes, being with your mom and sisters, and generally rocking NYC.

Who knew how grown up we could feel while traveling alone on an airplane? I really have a good visual of you trying to make eye contact and conversation with various strangers, while possibly intoxicated. This is why you are special, J... :)
AND, is it just me and my sudafed and vodka mixture, or is this picture of your daddy and Clara absolutely heart wrenching???
Love you girlie.
