morado

It all started when I tried to use the "fireworks" setting to catch  a few fancy shots on the 4th of July

It was not an attempt that many would call successful, per se.

Although Mistah Shlekah does seem partial to this sort of thing

and me without my hallucinogens.
The failure thing did not stop me from taking 898 weirdo photos of those fireworks, but that is not the point. The point is that I left the camera set on fireworks, and that is how I either ruined or made magical an evening of amazing light at our very own and well beloved Ocean Beach.

The Land of Purple Sand!
Really. Honestly. Truly. Where do I go with this? It's the moment that was so awesome, my girl being a complete loon out there in the lingering daylight, playing frisbee with her dad.

What? There isn't a cartwheel rule in your game of frisbee? You are doing it wrong.

Speaking of doing it wrong...

let's stick to our God-given talents
My boy was out in the desert, the poor bastard. Camping in 110 degree weather. Who does that?   We'll get to see him in a blog soon, I think. But for now, back to the purple sand and the loco disc.

Could you ever throw so gracefully?

So confident and poised?
Ah, but the disc eludes

She thought she'd give the camera a whirl while I took over her frisbee station

How much fun would we have on a purple beach?
She tried and tried to get a photo of me catching the thing, but that required that: a). I catch it and b) she capture it

close enough?
She got some good action shots of dad

And of the standing still moments
Oh, well.
Isn't it?
The light changed as the day dwindled, even though I had no idea we were working on purple sand mode, I was in love with the illumination on these faces

Pretty girl. Cute boy.

I don't know where she gets it.

Goodnight, purple sand.

I want purple sand NOW! That is the very coolest.

You people are so dang good looking! And with your boy out there melting in the desert there wasn't even one annoyed look in the whole photo series!

Hope to frolic on OB's purple sand with you sometime soon.

xoxo,
Beth
