The crazy axis

I was out with a friend a few weeks ago who told me a story about a guy on his lacrosse team; about some very, let's call it, European underwear that his teammate had ordered online, and then received in the mail and immediately modeled for a guest that was staying at his place, whom he had never met before.  A guest of his roomate's (also on the lacrosse team).

The guest did not enjoy the display, or so I hear.

Immediately following this story my friend declared that guys can be so weird. Like really weird, like super weird. (I don't think he meant weird limited to perverted, but I think that was some of it.)

Anyway......my reply was that women could be pretty weird too. He didn't agree. Women, he said could be crazy. Totally crazy, like batty cookoo cray-cray, but they weren't weird like guys were weird.

He didn't say any of this in an offensive way, just offered it up as some nugget of life experience that he was passing on to me. Hmm, well okay.

I mean we've all heard people say guys are pigs, or guys are insensitive jerks, or and guys are only-out-for-one-thing, etc. Not that I'm in agreement with any of those labels, but those do tend to be thrown around from time to time. Guys are weird was a new one for me.

But women as crazy was not. You hear people (more often than not, men) say that all the time.

So when someone sent me this incredibly misogynistic video a week or so after, with this weird-vs-crazy dichotomy still marinating in the back of my mind, I had to laugh. Its delivery is so deadpan and its message so twisted that it made me giggle out loud.
