Practice, Dedication and a Really Good Stance

There's not that much difference between being a sports hero and a rock-and-roll superstar, really. We're finding that out in the Poconos.

The softball game? Softball takes practice, dedication, and a really good batting stance.

Just ask Julie.

Or Jane. Wow, those two have eerily similar batting stances.

Softball of course takes power, too. Provided by The Dowd.

And beauty. What's softball without beauty?

And coordination and grace. Unless you're barreling into a 10-year third baseman. Then it takes speed and blind ambition.
.
Shuffleboard also requires practice, dedication and a good stance.
.
It's really remarkable how many sports require just that.

Okay, some stances are better than others. Nice putt, Joe.

Talk about dedication, practice and a good stance.

Thwack!

What we discovered, though, is karaoke demands just those things as well. .

Dedication to the song and to the group.

Practice.

Okay, maybe we should have practiced.
.
Nah, we don't need no stinkin' practice. We're sports heros and rock-and-roll superstars. We've got dedication, we've got beauty and power and coordination and grace . . .
.

. . . and a really good stance.

I used to be an archer, but I lost my bow. I tried to sing, but I lost my (golden) voice. And then I tried to think, but I lost my mind. I am looking forward to your posting the audio..oh, go on, post it!

Aw Ellie. (I hope you're not reading over my shoulder as I type). I miss the Pokies! It's so sad and tragic and bereft out here in the not poconos. It was a great week, what a crew we have. With magnificently impressive stances. You rocked that archery, and I'm so glad you stopped kicking your own cute little ass.

I did kick my own ass. At first. And I have some bad-ass inner-arm bruises to prove it.

And then? I became Diana, the goddess of the bow-and-arrow. I'm going to install a target in my backyard.

So Ellie, I thought about giving you a bit of a hard time about showing off your (?) biceps/triceps what-have-you, but then it occurred to me that you could whup me with one hand tied behind your back, so I'd best not. Do you secretly have huge barbells down in your cellar or something?? Geez. If you get that bow out after a round or two of champagne home run derby, I'm hiding.

Thanks for letting us all in on what looked like a week to remember forever. Hello to all you Coreys! The Whaling City looks forward to having at least two of you back in town tomorrow!
