Thank god it's Tuesday

Ever have one of those mornings when nothing goes right?

They typically occur on mornings after you didn't have enough sleep. And on mornings that are rainy, and on mornings that are Monday.

All of these variables came together for me yesterday morning. It was rainy, it was Monday, I was tired, and the kids didn't want to get out of bed, expect for the youngest who is always raring to go sometime in the 6 o'clock hour. My husband was off early to a 9-hour class with a cheery wave (more like a snarl), so I handled the breakfast/dressing/ brushing/packing up/whining routine that is a weekday morning, and we set off.

Urgh. Wouldn't you know it? The car was halfway down the block because there was no parking Saturday night when I got home. C'mon guys, a little walk in the rain will be fun.

(It really wasn't.)

The bus drop-off went fine, as did the daycare drop off, except for the fact that Dan, the husband of the daycare-provider duo, told me how irritated he was by his wife's excessive purchases during the weekend's silent/live auction fundraiser for our kids' school.

(Who cares you may be asking yourself.)

Well, I did. I had my own irritated husband. He was not at all pleased by my winning bid on a day trip to one of the world's top spas. Okay, I admittedly spent a tad bit more than I should have. But c'mon, it's for the kids. Right? And I wanted it. And it was fun to bid against all those suckers.

So, Dan's tirade against his wife's excessive auction spending did not go over well with me.

Neither did my dentist's news later that morning that my tooth issue was no longer something he could handle in his office -- I needed to instead go to a specialist. The ENDOdontist. (An aside here, I was not completely sad to hear this because my dentist happened to be the drummer in the band that was playing at the auction gig on Saturday night, and he was plastered. I mean, wasted, bombed, and playing shirtless no less. The last time I saw him that night he had to have someone help him order his drink because he just couldn't quite get the words out. Really, I couldn't make this shit up.)

No, the sad news came when I asked the endodontist how much the root canal was going to cost me -- $1140(!), which of course is on top of the $977(!) I've already paid for this one measly tooth. Can you even believe that f-ing shit?! I can. But I don't have to like it. Plus, it's not like it's not going to hurt.

But the very cherry on the top of my morning was when two hours later the nurse from my kids' school called for the 4th time in 3 weeks. Yes, the 4th time. So I headed out to pick up a sick daughter yet once again, and to get approximately one fourth of the work done for the day that I should have.

But, now it's Tuesday, and my root canal isn't until tomorrow morning at 8 am, so dammit, I'm going to enjoy today.

Oh, Elizabeth. Poor you. That amount of $$$ on top of all your pain really is injury with a heaping helping of insult.

And if you like, I will tell your hsuband that he is *not* allowed to be irritated with you about your spa bid, if he's not going to join in on the breakfast/dressing/ brushing/packing up/whining routine.

Good luck tomorrow. Hope they have good narcotics.

Oh Beth, that sucks about your tooth. Thank God you have a spa day to make up for it! As punishment to T for giving you shit about supporting public education, I think you should take someone else with you to redeem that auction prize. I am available.

Good luck tomorrow!!

Ummm ladies,

Did you notice that my love did not mention the amount?? Or that she thought it was for an over night? I actually was more shocked than mad, and she does deserve a nice over night, I mean day at a spa. The classic text I got from her the next day was that the other guy's wife unexpectedly got 13 BASKETS!She only got 1.. It is supposed to be really nice though and it will make for a great blog.

Have a good day!

Um, T, I did not think it was for an overnight, as we read through all of the live autcion offerings before it started, remember?

And then they were very clear that it was a day trip when auctioning it off.

And, Jacquie? I totally agree.

Dental procedures can really be costly, but most of it turned out to be very satisfying! And it can be tiresome sometimes. Your body feels very heavy, and you can hardly walk through the clinic doors. But a short time of sacrifice will lead to a long time of pleasure! So don't be mad, and just think of the brighter side.
