Let's Revisit the Classics
I think this will be my favorite recycled
classic, revisited post ever. I always start with the same date in a
different year. It serves me well, in fact my very last post was from Halloween
last year! Er, oops. That’s two in a row. Nevermind! We’re revisiting the
classics. For November 5th, 2013, I looked back on early November in
2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. The way I was searching I could not click on
a specific date, just the month in a year would bring me to a long list of post
titles. I’d choose one toward the bottom whose title I recognized as my own. It’s
a bit like closing your eyes and pointing to a work in the dictionary. Or
bible? What is that thing? Anyway. I
picked one from each year and guess what? They are all awesome. Okay that sounds really pompous. Let’s just
say that I like them all. I really, really like them. And I hope you do, too.
“As a mother and a
voter and an eternal optimist, I’ve looked for and often found ways to see the
bright side. I’m not one to sit in protest of “God Bless America”, even
though it has no place in the 7th inning stretch. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the
oceans, white with foam. Home is still sweet to me, and I want my civic pride
back.”
“I can just grunt like
the cavewoman I have become after this long, packed weekend and gesture at the
cute and/or disturbing images of my spawn and their cohorts.”
“Westy-lust seems to
course through our family genes. Everyone knows that Ellie and Bill have one,
but do they know that Julie has one too? Why wouldn't she? When you see a flash
of brilliance, you can't help but want a little slice for yourself. Why
wouldn't *I*?”
“She asked to go to
the office because she was having ‘lady issues’. Then she came back with a
sandwich.”
“Today was a beautiful
day, there are few things in this world that feel better than the way I feel
when my mom is hanging out with my kids, my family, me. She's aces.”

Love this. Love being "aces".... xo mom
Aw, Jacquie, great idea, much better than bible (or medical dictionary, as the case may be) dipping.
I loved all of these posts too! Such variety!! Man, we've been writing this thing forevah!! But reading all this ancient fodder makes me remember that's it's worth it. So crazy to think back on all that has gone on in our lives and the world at large in the last 5 years.
xoxo,
Beth
The pull-out quotes are themselves a compelling blog:
A cavewoman and her awesome mom bring delicious luncheon to a baseball game in the Westy,
Done!
Love you. Love your writing.
