scenes from the queen

The day began like so many others before it, with knives presents in bed!

the better to carve you with, my sweet

And cards made by the kids.

Those of you who have had the pleasure of being on the receiving end of one my girl's cards will appreciate the distinct luxury of unveiling its wonders.

But wait, what's this shit?

computer generated?!
I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Okay. This is acceptable. No joke.
And on the back:
Girl of my heart.
Thankfully some people can still be counted on to take pencil to printer paper for the truly handmade creation I so crave
Aw. It's been my distinct pleasure, son.
You've also done some pretty stellar card writing in your day,  kiddo.

Once out of bed, the celebration continued

check. check. check. check. check. Yes, that is all the things.

If anyone needed to wipe their hands, we were all set:

We enjoyed a lovely and leisurely day around the compound, then in the afternoon we took ourselves on a little hike to the highest point in San Diego

Not that point

THAT point

It's not nice to give your mother such heart attacks on Mother's Day.

We made our way back down as the sun started to set

Then we went here for dinner, even though this is a photo from when my boy and I went to the same place last week. Ramen. Yum.
Back at home, we wrapped it up with the world's most adorable dessert:

God Bless Tom Carvel and his tiny cakes
 It's good to be queen.

Once again, I love you! No joke.

Love all this, Madame Queen. What a lovely day y'all had. Awesome loot, gorgeous brekkies, fabulous hike. San Diego looks spectacular from on high. I want to hike up there.

Glad the peeps did you right.
